What is mankind's greatest need?
Perfection is required to appear before God. Sin renders us all imperfect. How then can we be perfect and stand before God?
Hebrews 10:1 - the law is but a shadow - it is impotent; Hebrews 10:4 - the old covenant sacrifices cannot deal with sin effectively - it is powerless;
1. How could an animal be held responsible for the sin of a man?
2. How could an animal be of sufficient value for the crime of a man?
3. How could you expect an animal to take the blame for mankind's sin?
The sacrifice required for mankind's sin would have to be:
1. A man
2. Of sufficient value
3. A volunteer
Why did God set up a system that was insufficient to deal with mankind's sin?
God's will - Verse 5 - Philippians 2:7-8; John 4:34, 5:30, 6:38; Isaiah 53:10
